Light, not a filter
Photography literally means writing with light. A filter guesses what you should look like. Laurens looks at what you do look like.

Nothing wrong with a filter
Let’s be honest: for many people, a filter is the first time they see themselves this way. That moment is real and it counts. But it ends when you put your phone down. Here we go a step further.
What a filter does
A filter finds a face and puts a layer over it: smoother, slimmer, bigger eyes. It doesn’t know you, so it pulls every face in the same direction. And with your phone you’re close: at arm’s length the lens makes your nose bigger and your face narrower, and that’s where the filter starts.
What light does
Light is what gives a face its shape. Where the shadow falls, you see a jaw; where it shines, you see a cheekbone. Laurens looks at your face and your make-up, and sets the light for them. Nothing is distorted: your face gets its shape because the light really falls on it.
He stands a few metres away, so your face stays in proportion. Patty’s make-up is on your skin, so you see it in the mirror too, and you take it out the door with you.
What a photographer sees
The first photos are rarely the best, and that’s how it should be. Laurens shows you how to stand, what to do with your hands and where your chin can go. After a while you forget the camera, and then it happens: you laugh at something, you look away for a second. A filter doesn’t know that moment was there.
What about editing?
Yes, Laurens edits your 15 photos: light, colour, a spot that happened to be there today. Normally we keep it as natural as possible, because you should recognise yourself, ten years from now too.
If you want a specific look, we can do more: a stronger style, or a different way of retouching, with AI if you like. We only do that if you ask. With a filter you pick a layer; here you choose together with someone who has seen your face.
Can you see the light?

Questions
Can I book only a photoshoot, without make-up?
Yes. It costs about the same as the session. The price depends on where you want the photos taken. Email us, and we plan it together.
I never look good in photos. Is this for me?
Yes. Almost nobody looks good in photos by themselves; it takes light, posture and time. That’s what Laurens is for.
Are my photos edited?
Yes: light, colour and small things, as natural as possible. If you want a specific look, just say so and we can do more.
Do you use AI?
Only if you ask, for example for a special style. Normally we edit your photos without it.
Can I still add a filter myself?
Of course. Your photos are yours.
How do I know how to stand?
You don’t need to. Laurens shows you, and you can look along on the screen.
